Yoga on the Farm

I love this picture! My husband came to the opening of Yoga on the Farm to support me and to take pictures and make a video. He took this picture. I love the beautiful banana trees that we were surrounded by for yoga. Several months ago I visited Rhiba Farms for the first time to pick up my produce box that I had ordered online. A friend of mine had posted pictures and constantly loved to get her farm fresh produce from Rhiba Farms. I had to go visit! It looked so peaceful in the pictures. The first time I visited I walked around and immediately fell in love. As a yoga teacher I see spaces and think this would be perfect for yoga. As I walked around I saw it, a place for yoga. For me I thought what a great 2 for 1. To come practice yoga and to pick up your fresh produce to nourish your body all in 1 stop. To practice in the energy of a living farm that contains no pesticides or chemicals with nothing but life growing all around. The thoughts swirled around my mind for a while. A couple weeks later I received an invite to yoga on the farm at Agave Farms in Phoenix. I went and enjoyed the feeling again of practicing yoga on a farm. Years ago I lived in Costa Rica for 3 months on a farm in the middle of the rain forest and practiced yoga everyday. I taught the owners and several people that worked on the farm. The chickens ran around. The goats chased the chickens and the dogs chased the goats and chickens or just took up your yoga mat taking a nap. Something was still missing. The practice in between the trees with a view of trees all around. Driving home immediately I thought of Rhiba Farms and how I longed to do yoga and get veggies. I got home and emailed Rhiba Farms telling them of my idea to have yoga on his farm. I received an answer within that very hour. The owner, who signs his emails, Your farmer was just as excited about the idea as I was. We both had questions about the logics of putting on an event weekly or bi-weekly. We emailed back and forth with our thoughts and answers.

We decided to meet that week and walk the farm to go over the logistics of where to have the yoga and where people can park. That night I dreamed of building Yoga on the Farm. My dreams were inspiring. "Build it and they will come", was the answer in my dreams. The following night I had the same dream and knew it was time to build. The day came and I invited a friend, my ride or die, my fellow yogi to come check out the farm with me. We drove out and checked it out. As my friend and I walked around she could feel it too. This was an environment of growth and clean energy perfect for yoga that is accessible to all. Yoga where everyone is accepted. As we drove home my friend and I talked about other teachers that could teach on the farm as well. All my yoga friends, my circle met to celebrate through yoga practice the building, the creation, of Yoga on the Farm at Rhiba Farms. I spent the last couple of weeks advertising knowing that whoever is meant to come will be there. Yesterday was the grand opening of the creation and five beautiful souls came to enjoy the sunshine, the energy and to get their gift of produce, of health. My soul is so happy and I can't wait to grow this collaboration of yoga and farm fresh healthy eating. Knowing where your food comes from and knowing Your farmer is something that I think is so important and want to share with all of you. 💜
