Coaching for City of Tempe

This summer I have started a new adventure coaching paddling and SUP for City of Tempe.  I rowed for Tempe Town Lake Crew for years and worked for City of Tempe Camp Challenge a couple of summers ago. The two came together nicely a couple of weeks before school let out. I received an email from City of Tempe asking me if I'd want to coach kayaking and SUP. I had planned on teaching them privately this summer so I thought why not teach it for the city. As part of the training instructors are required to pass a boating safety course. 6.5 hours later I passed the final exam and moved up to the first step of teaching rowing as well, to drive the launch boat. Monday night I was offered to drive the launch this week for Open Row on Tuesday and Thursday morning. I enjoyed practicing driving the boat. It is pretty simple and there really isn't anyone on the lake at 5:30 in the morning.  I look forward to mornings on the lake and doing what I love to do!
